Enrollment
Enrollment for doctoral students is conducted in accordance with university administrative procedures. Admitted students must complete their enrollment and related administrative tasks at the designated time, following the instructions provided in their admission notice. According to current central practice, students are required to book an appointment with the University Doctoral and Habilitation Office to complete this process.
For enrollment, students are required to prepare the documents necessary for identification and student records, as well as the information to be registered in the Neptun system and student administration. The Neptun code and login credentials will be issued upon completion of the enrollment process.
Training and Research Phase (Semesters 1–4)
The first phase of the doctoral program is dedicated to establishing a scientific foundation, defining the research direction, and preparing the publication strategy. During this phase, doctoral students complete courses, develop their research programs, regularly report on their progress, and prepare for the complex exam scheduled for the end of the fourth semester.
Curriculum Structure / Operational Plan
The DSAIAM Operational Plan outlines the doctoral school’s programs, sub-programs, research topics, credit structure, and course frameworks.

Course registration
Doctoral students shall select their courses in consultation with their supervisor, ensuring alignment with the doctoral school’s training plan and their specific research topic. While the technical registration for courses is conducted via the Neptun system, students are advised to ensure that their course selection aligns with their semester research objectives and publication plans.
With the supervisor’s approval and in justified cases, courses from other doctoral schools or institutions may also be credited, in accordance with current regulations.

Language Requirements
The language requirements for the doctoral program and the degree acquisition procedure are governed by the University’s Doctoral and Habilitation Regulations and the valid Rector’s Directive. According to the current DSAIAM regulations, obtaining the doctoral degree requires proof of English language proficiency at an intermediate (B2) level or higher.
Research and Dissertation Phase (Semesters 5–8)
The second phase of the doctoral program focuses on deepening research, consolidating publication output, preparing the dissertation, and initiating the degree acquisition process. The main elements of this stage include satisfying the requirements for the absolutorium (pre-degree certificate, see below), the internal, preliminary defence (workplace discussion), the preparation of the dissertation and the thesis summary (thesis booklet), the review process, and the public defence.
Absolutorium
The pre-degree certificate (absolutorium) is a formal document certifying the completion of the study phase of the doctoral program, confirming the completion of all required credits for the doctoral degree. To be eligible for the certificate, students must fulfill the credit requirements as stipulated by the Doctoral School. The certificate is issued based on the decision of the Council of the Doctoral School (DIT)
Doctoral Degree Acquisition Procedure
Doctoral students or candidates must submit a written request to the Head of the Doctoral School to initiate the doctoral degree acquisition procedure. The prerequisites for initiating the procedure and the list of required documentation are defined by the current University Doctoral and Habilitation Regulations.

Workplace Discussion (Internal Defence)
The internal defence —formally referred to as the ‘workplace discussion’—is an academic forum held prior to the final submission of the doctoral dissertation. Its purpose is to ensure that the dissertation draft receives substantive academic feedback before it is officially submitted. The comments and recommendations provided by reviewers during this discussion help to enhance the quality of the final dissertation.
Dissertation and Thesis Summary (Thesis Booklet)
The thesis summary (thesis booklet) is a concise document that summarizes the doctoral candidate’s independent scientific achievements.

Public Defence
The public defence of the doctoral dissertation is the most significant public stage of the degree acquisition procedure. During the defence, the candidate presents the main findings of their dissertation and answers questions from the reviewers and the audience. Subsequently, the defense committee deliberates in a closed session to formulate its recommendation regarding the awarding of the degree.
