Research Topics
Rules and Procedures for Selecting a Doctoral Research Topic
The selection of a doctoral topic must, in all cases, be based on research compatibility. Applicants are advised to select from the research topics offered within the doctoral school’s programs and sub-programs, and to establish contact with their prospective supervisor and host research institution while preparing their application.
The doctoral topic must be suitable for the doctoral student to master the application of scientific methods under the guidance of a supervisor, to achieve original and verifiable results, and to present these findings in scientific publications, conference presentations, and the doctoral dissertation.
For admission to state-funded scholarship positions, a statement of acceptance from the chosen institute/research institution and the prospective supervisor is required. Program and sub-program leaders participate in the professional review of research topics; the leadership of the Doctoral School decides on the acceptance of topics in accordance with current regulations.
